Class Title
Foundations of Canine Freestyle
Description
A 6-week beginner’s course, introducing foundational concepts and definitions. You’ll learn how good solid dog training concepts can be used in new and interesting ways, creating a whole new definition of "fun" for you and your dog -- and laying the foundation for a whole new level of accomplishment.
Cost

$100

 

Pre-requisites

Your dog must be able to walk nicely on a leash in the presence of other dogs, and be at least one year old.

 

Note/Comments

This class is suitable for anyone who is interested in canine freestyle, whether “just for fun” or as a foundation for eventual competition; Rally or traditional obedience skills helpful.

A 4-foot leash is recommended, along with your dog's favorite reward whether treats or a toy (no squeakers, please). No choke, prong or e-collars, please.

WORKSHOPS

Workshop Title
Playing with Possibilities: The Fun of "What If?" in Canine Freestyle
Description
A 2-hour workshop that explores some of the choreographic concepts behind canine freestyle. We'll start with basic movements, and the experiment to find new ways of doing things: "creativity" doesn't have to be a scary word! This will be an opportunity for both beginners and more experienced freestyle handlers to look at things from a different perspective and share the fun of using your imagination.
Cost
$40 per dog/handler team; $15 to audit
Pre-requisites

Dogs should be at least one year old.

Some experience or training in canine freestyle preferred.

 

Note/Comments
Please use a relatively short leash (4’ is recommended), and appropriate rewards to make this a very positive experience for your dog.

This workshop is offered in cooperation with Our Furry Friends Training Center.

In-depth Introductory Workshop
Description
A 2-hour workshop that provides an in-depth opportunity to sample canine freestyle, intended for groups such as breed meet-up groups or other organizations.  You’ll learn some of the concepts and definitions of freestyle, learn some of the basic movements, and have an opportunity to try a simple choreographed routine with music.
Cost
Variable depending on location and number of participants
Pre-requisites
Your dog must be able to walk nicely on a leash in the presence of other dogs, and be at least one year old.
Note/Comments
Participants must present documentation of the dog’s up-to-date vaccinations.
